Jason Cope
|
| |
| Jason Cope was born and raised in New Madrid county Missouri. Growing up just
outside the small Mississippi River town of New Madrid leaves a boy with not
much to do except hunt, fish and work on the family farm. “Cope” was no
exception to this, he started following in his grandpa’s footsteps at an early
age. Mr. Ernest Carpenter (grandpa) farmed and owned a cotton gin just outside
the town of Laforge. As soon as “Cope” was able to walk and talk he started
tagging along with grandpa and learning the ropes. It was not long until the
two of them were spending the summers working together at the gin and spending
the winters reeking havoc on the rabbits, squirrels and quail. |

| Today, “Cope” still lives in New Madrid County with his wife Jenny and son
Clay. Several years have passed but “Cope” still farms some of the same ground
that he farmed with his grandpa, only now the rabbits, squirrels and quail have
been replaced with deer and ducks. “Cope” brings a lifetime of knowledge of the
Mississippi River and the ducks that winter there to ensure that when the
backwater starts raising you couldn’t have a better guide. |
